“Christmas on Las Olas is such a great Fort Lauderdale tradition and a wonderful kick-off to the holiday season that can be enjoyed by all ages,” said Bob Drinon, South Region President of Breakthru Beverage, Presenting Sponsor of Christmas on Las Olas.  “We at Breakthru Beverage are proud to once again partner in bringing this event to the community and we wish everyone a happy, safe, and responsible holiday season.” The event runs from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29th, between S.E. 6th Avenue and S.E. 11th Avenue, and is free and open to the public.

“We consider Christmas on Las Olas as our gift to the community,” said Amber VanBuren, LOA’s Executive Director.  Over 50,000 people are expected to attend this home-town cherished holiday tradition.  “It’s the most exciting time of the year and none of it would be possible without the continued commitment from our longtime sponsors!” Gold Sponsors are Anidjar & Levine and The Las Olas Company.

Many of the popular “favorite things” of the evening will return including: children climbing the Anidjar & Levine Snow Mountain to benefit the South East Police Motorcycle Rodeo, Skate Las Olas this year located on S.E. 8th Avenue beside American Social and NEW sponsor Coral Spring’s Auto Mall Movie Magic is featuring the holiday classic “Elf” with Will Ferrell on a giant screen at S.E. 9th Avenue.  Media Newcomers to the event this year are CBS Radio affiliates 99.9 KISS Country and WQAM Sports Radio.  CBS Radio Marketing Manager, Stephen Carver, said “South Florida’s New country, Kiss 99.9 is proud to support the 2016 Christmas in Las Olas resented by BreakThru Beverage. As one of the most iconic and highly anticipated annual events in the greater South Florida region, we look forward to sharing this event experience with our listeners and partners alike”.  Carver has attended the event for years with his family and is super excited to be a part of the event this year.

And what would Christmas be without Santa?  Well, you don’t have to worry… thanks to One Beat CPR, Santa’s Village and Kid’s Zone, benefitting South Florida Firefighters Calendar is moving to the eastern most end of Las Olas.   “We are excited about the new East End location and look forward to seeing all of our friends and family once again”, said Lissette Rodriguez from One Beat CPR.  (Santa’s Village was previously located at the Riverside lawn and will relocate in 2016 with a linear layout toward Louie Bossi’s and 11th Ave. Stage)

“There are so many things going on, locals and visitors will definitely be able to get into the holiday spirit… It’s a magical evening for ‘… children of all ages,’ enthused Luke Moorman, President of the Las Olas Association.  The event is produced by the Las Olas Association, with support from its many sponsors and partners.  Christmas on Las Olas also marks the kick-off of the holiday shopping season and with close to a hundred shops, boutiques and art galleries, as well as dozens of restaurants and bistros that offer gift certificates, Las Olas offers gift items sure to please anyone,” Luke added.

And speaking of the ‘holiday spirits,’ there will be a half-dozen outdoor bars, sponsored by Big City Tavern, American Social, the Riverside Hotel, Luigis Tuscan Grill, Louis Bossi and Luigi’s Coal Fired Pizza.  

The GFL Chamber Beach Council and, longtime supporters of Christmas on Las Olas, will bring the beach to Boulevard with their extraordinary Snowman/Sand Sculpture. “We don’t often leave the beach, but when we do…it’s for Christmas on Las Olas!” said Heidi Dennis, GFL Chamber Beach Council Chair.

A centerpiece of the evening are the four performance stages with non-stop family entertainment, featuring more than 35 local choirs and performances from schools and churches that fill the air with the sounds of the holidays.  Benedetti Orthodontics returns as sponsor of the S.E. 6th Avenue Performance Stage, near the Riverside Hotel.  Truly Nolen has expanded their sponsorship to showcase the 8th Avenue Stage, where local school and church choirs will be entertaining.  Additional performance stages are located at SE 11th Ave and the sidewalk stage located just East of Snow Mountain.  We will see the return of the Angel Tones, a popular steel drum band that provides a Caribbean flavor on holiday classics.  Throughout the evening, visitors can enjoy an eclectic array of food, with vendors offering holiday treats at more than 70 booths!  A lighted Menorah will also mark the celebration Hanukah in this all-inclusive holiday tradition.

The twinkling lights in the branches of the Black Olive trees in the medians, and wrapped around the soaring Royal Palm Trees, will stay up throughout the holidays.  With holiday décor of cheerful static and kinetic lighting displays dressing up the Boulevard from one end to the other, Las Olas takes on the aura of a magical holiday wonderland!  It’s a perfect night to shop with the stores open late!!

This amazing free event has been a gift to the community from the Las Olas merchants for the past 54 years.  Among the organizations benefiting: South East Police Motorcycle Rodeo, Cody’s Angels, Jessica June Children’s Foundation, Salvation Army, Junior Achievement, Florida Children’s Theater, South Florida Firefighters Calendar, and Miami City Ballet.
