I am very happy to share with you some great news. The Las Olas Association is pleased to announce that we have hired a new Executive Director, Audrey Korshoff.

Audrey is a true local with an immense amount of love for Las Olas Boulevard and South Florida. She comes to us with over 25 years of experience in marketing, sales, and business development. Her bubbly personality fits the bill of who we want to promote our merchants, restaurants, and galleries on Las Olas. She loves the water, boating, the beach and socializing with her friends. Audrey is a team player and I, along with our Board of Directors, have already had the pleasure of working with her for a few weeks. She will be contacting our members and making introductions to all. We welcome Audrey with open arms and look forward to a fantastic relationship as we work together to support our members and promote the growth of the Association.
And, of course, we wish to sincerely thank our former Director, Erika Del Rio, for her efforts over the past three years on behalf of all of us on Las Olas. I join the entire Board and LOA membership in wishing her very best of success in her new endeavors and look forward to seeing her on the boulevard!
Spring has sprung and many great events took place in March and April. Here on Las Olas Boulevard, one of the most notable was the incredible Las Olas Art Fair. The weather was perfect, and thousands of people showed up with their passion for the arts. The boulevard shops and restaurants were filled, and we saw many people walking with art in their arms headed to their forever new homes! The artists were thrilled to see so many art lovers on the boulevard. This was a great event, and we look forward to the Art Fair returning in October.
I am sure you all noticed that we had beautiful flags waving along the boulevard in April. They represented Autism Awareness Month in April and said “Accept Without Limits.” Autism is not limited to a specific appearance or demography, and it can affect anyone. In fact, approximately 1 in every 36 individuals in the U.S. is diagnosed with Autism. Our sincere thanks to the Dan Marino Foundation for continuing to put this awareness on the forefront and helping to educate all of us.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade was held on Fort Lauderdale Beach this year due to the construction on Las Olas Boulevard. In addition to the many who showed up in their ever so Irish green attire while sporting beads and hats, the famed Budweiser Clydesdales were in attendance in their grand style and wowed the crowd. Even so, we’re all looking forward to the parade and festival returning to our traditional Las Olas and downtown venue next year (construction permitting).
We hope you all had a wonderful Easter and Passover holiday. There were many celebrations happening for families and our city, beaches and Boulevard were filled with spring breakers, thankfully including many of our own local kids home from school. Our hats are off with a big ‘Thank you!’ to our Fort Lauderdale Police, Fire Department and city officials for their exceptional preparation and readiness that resulted in one of our least eventful and most enjoyed Spring Break seasons ever!

OK! We have even MORE exciting news! I was thrilled to be invited, along with our Las Olas Association Board of Directors and others, to be a part of the unveiling of The Las Olas Collection of Bentleys presented by Mulliner – the Beauty of Bespoke and Holman Motorcars Fort Lauderdale.
Four beautiful Bentley automobiles were custom-designed to reflect the beauty, brand and sophistication of Las Olas Boulevard. The works of drivable art are simply gorgeous and each one represents something different: the Black Cystal, representing the vibrant energy that Las Olas offers after dark; the Ghost White, representing the relaxing atmosphere of the nearby beaches; the Dark Sapphire, echoing the sophistication and elegance of the upscale shopping on Las Olas; and the Camel and Beluga Flying Spur, which was inspired by the diverse and eclectic mix of cultures found in the food scene on Las Olas.

And most recently, I hope those of you who attended our 27th Annual Las Olas Wine & Food Festival on Friday, April 21st, had a great time and sampled ALL of the wine and food offerings from this year’s record number of vendors! It probably isn’t likely that you sampled ALL of them…I couldn’t, but it wasn’t for not trying! There were just so many of them and only one of me!! I hope everyone who was there enjoyed one of our best Las Olas Wine and Food Festivals ever!
In closing, I am looking forward to a fantastic summer ahead! We’ll be letting you all know about the popular “Christmas in July” as we draw closer to the date.
