ETARU Japanese Restaurant Las Olas, Fort Lauderdale

ETARU, a restaurant featuring contemporary Japanese Robatayaki cuisine will open its second location in South Florida early summer 2018 at The Related Group’s brand new ultra-luxury rental, Icon Las Olas, in Fort Lauderdale. Less than a year after the highly successful opening of the restaurant’s first location in Hallandale Beach, ETARU is destined to be a unique and popular addition to Las Olas Boulevard’s restaurant scene. Brought to the United States by Rainer Becker, co-founder and creator of Zuma restaurants worldwide and ROKA London, ETARU’s menu revolves around the central Robata Grill; a concept which originated with the fisherman of Japan’s Northern coast who charcoal-grilled fish on their boats and shared with one another via outstretched oars.

“We are excited to be opening our second South Florida location of ETARU in downtown Fort Lauderdale,” offered ROKA London and ETARU Group Executive Chef Hamish Brown. “Both restaurants share menus and our spirit of hospitality, however they will offer different experiences to our guests. While ETARU Hallandale Beach embraces the ocean and beach culture of its neighborhood, the Las Olas location will offer the vibrant dynamic of city living and dining.”

Corporate Executive Chef Luca Spiga will helm the kitchen, bringing his knowledge of the brand and his passion for Japanese cuisine to Fort Lauderdale. Raw dishes are notable for their unparalleled freshness, simplicity and great flavor pairings. Sashimi, maki rolls, salads and tataki, snacks and soups are all beautifully presented on specialty plateware, handmade and imported from Japan. Tokusen – special raw sashimi dishes – include plates like ROKA London’s signature Yellowtail Sashimi with yuzu truffle dressing, which has been a hit among ETARU Hallandale diners; Japanese Wagyu tartare with ponzu pearls and nori crackers; and Tuna Tartare with scallions, wasabi and Osetra caviar. ETARU will also offer a full sushi selection including nigiri. Desserts offer a perfect South Florida ending to dinner with tropical fruits and light but decadent flavors. Options include a Smoked Coconut and Passionfruit Parfait; Guests may also indulge in the famous and truly picture-worthy dessert platter which includes a selection of the most popular desserts. A variety of artisan cocktails as well as craft and Japanese beers, a wide selection of Japanese whiskeys, wines by the glass and bottles are also available.

At its essence, ETARU Fort Lauderdale is a neighborhood restaurant that welcomes local diners as well as visitors with a critically acclaimed menu and vibe that embraces the South Florida scene. The new indoor-outdoor, multi-functional space was designed by Miami Beach’s Urban Robot Associates. The space will be outfitted with natural touches of wood and pops of color mixed with industrial-chic design elements. An impressive tree-like structure will serve as the centerpiece of the restaurant alongside the central Robata grill, which will have an open concept, allowing guests to see the action. The tables are arranged in a way that assures there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

ETARU is located at Icon Las Olas at 500 East Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. ETARU will offer dinner seven days a week, lunch Monday through Saturday and brunch on Sunday. The ETARU team is working on finalizing details for the unique and local lunch, happy hour and decadent Sunday brunch offering. Self-parking is available during lunch and dinner Monday through Sunday.
