New River Fine Art will be featuring eight new artists to the gallery. These include Peter Burega, Greg Constantine, Edward Lentsch, Charlie Miner, Lucy Peveto, Bret Price, Vladimir Prodanovich and Laura Wait.
One example of the artists on exhibit is Greg Constantine. He has taught painting, drawing, and art history at Andrews University for forty-three years and began exhibiting nationally in 1969. Since 1975, Constantine’s work has dealt with the theme of “Art about Art”. He is best known for his “Artistic License” series. While at first glance, these may appear to be simply collected old, rusted license plates, they are actually rendered as a convincing trompe-l’oeil entities.
Constantine fabricates, paints and rusticates each piece before assembling into a collage. The license plate format is that of utilitarian objects transformed into functional objects wearing the mantle of “high art”. His art is in museums and corporate collections around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and Hoechst Pharmaceuticals in Frankfurt, Germany
