Las Olas Boulevard, the gem of Fort Lauderdale, delights locals and visitors of EVERY generation. There is truly something for everyone and here are just a few ideas for you, whatever generation you belong to.
We love that our city embraces public art and that it is continually evolving. Art in public spaces makes the city a more colorful place. The “Las Olas” wall mural by solo artist Lori Pratico is a cheerful welcome to the Boulevard. The vibrant piece embraces the tropical spirit and classy heritage of the Boulevard. Her mural adorns the walkway between 619 and 621 E Las Olas Blvd. The wall mural was generously donated by BBX Capital and curated by the Business of Arts for Broward.
“Las Olas Boulevard is Fort Lauderdale’s premier destination and Lori’s mural provides a welcoming and visual experience for residents and visitors as they enter the Boulevard,” said Jarett Levan, President and CEO of BBX Capital and Chairman of Business for the Arts of Broward.
The mural promotes Las Olas Boulevard and supports Fort Lauderdale’s growing public art scene. We thank The Las Olas Company for collaborating with us and providing a canvas on which to share the Las Olas mural.” Kudos to Lori for realizing a dream she envisioned over 30 years ago when she first visited Las Olas and was in awe of the art galleries.
“The mural is intended to be a joyous tribute to Las Olas, using vibrant hues and a contemporary depiction of the palm leaf,” said Lori Pratico. My hope is for the mural to capture the dynamic essence and liveliness of the surroundings, while also acting as a defining landmark for the Boulevard.”
Previous to the the unveiling in December, Lori exhibited her other works at Las Olas Capital Arts presented by art enthusiast and founder Jodi Tanner. 619 and 621 E Las Olas Blvd. Learn more about Lori at https://www.loripratico.com
