We are happy to share with you the fantastic news that we have selected Maria Doherty as the new Executive Director of the Las Olas Association!
The Executive Director plays a pivotal role in The Las Olas Association and on the boulevard, serving as the driving force behind membership development, marketing, public relations, agency management, and civic/government liaison. The position’s day-to-day responsibilities include managing social media and the LasOlasBoulevard.com website, email marketing programs and updates, managing the Association’s annual budget, and ensuring the success of key events and projects. As the “face” of Las Olas, the position requires a dynamic, multi-skilled individual who represents the Las Olas Association in various capacities on an everyday basis, including interactions with merchants, vendors, residents, visitors, city officials, and other organizations.
Maria Doherty, a four-year graduate from Florida State University, checks all the boxes described above and began with us as Executive Director at the beginning of March. Her professional background includes developing and implementing promotional strategies in marketing, cultivating relationships to foster community engagement, and customizing special events and promotions. She has extensive experience in managing social media, websites, and marketing content.
Maria will take on the planning and oversight of our signature events such as Christmas on Las Olas, The Las Olas Art Fairs, the Las Olas Wine & Food Festival, and other new initiatives. She will be leading committees and developing professional networking mixers to help foster community engagement. One of her key objectives is to grow Las Olas Association membership by showing merchants and businesses on and around Las Olas how being a member of the association adds value for them and the entire Las Olas community. When Maria is not working, you will find her practicing yoga, picking up trash on the beach or reading in her garden. Her love for ice cream will give her lots of options on the boulevard!
We are delighted to welcome Maria to Las Olas and look forward to her leadership in our continuing efforts to promote, improve, and enhance our legendary Las Olas Boulevard as one of the premier destinations in South Florida for visitors and locals alike.
